Zaleski is an interdisciplinary artist that is constantly pushing to cultivate a more sustainable art practice. She utilizes primarily found and repurposed materials to create in a variety of media, including paint, crochet and textiles, illustration, found object work, ceramics, and beyond. To create art in communion with Mother Earth requires and cultivates playfulness, humility, and patience; these tools allow Zaleski to contribute to the many unending dialogues within herself and the world around her.

Artist Statement

I believe that regular self-examination is one of the kindest acts of love. My passion is for the exploration of monotony, not the grandiose. I want to understand how negligible encounters and occurrences permanently shift the realities of each involved individual. I want to understand how these experiences hang silently for years before being fully processed. I want to understand how, at moments, the brain strains to say absolutely nothing, yet we fill in the blanks with fallacies and strange language. I need to understand the connecting pulse flowing between Mother Earth, my ancestors, and myself. I am aware that what I purge to create tangible art is my way of continuing a narrative that started long before me and will continue long after I am gone, but while I am here, I will ambitiously live out this purpose.
